While I’m relatively new to the world of Asian combat sports like Muay Thai and K1, I do have some familiarity with photographing boxing.
Boxing and kickboxing are undeniably two of the most popular and effective combat sports. They share many similarities, but the key distinction lies in the allowed techniques: boxing restricts competitors to punches, while kickboxing incorporates both punches and kicks.
Kickboxing is often misunderstood. It’s not just about fighting; it’s a holistic discipline. Myths include it being overly aggressive or male-dominated. In reality, kickboxing is accessible to all fitness levels, offering incredible workouts, stress relief, and boosted confidence. It’s about technique, discipline, and respect, not just brute force.
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a kickboxing event, which sparked my interest in combat photography.
The event was packed with exciting action, expertly organized, and filled with friendly people. Approximately 800 spectators enjoyed the lively atmosphere. I snapped about 5000 images.
