After Pakistan last year and Kyrgyzstan the year before, I decided to travel again to Central Asia. My good friend Artëm from Bishkek put a nice tour together with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. A classic, as I call “ride and shoot”, road trip. And of course some touristic highlights along the way. We drove to far away villages in the picturesque Fann Mountains of Tajikistand and explored the Silk Road in Uzbekistan. Awesome landscapes, friendly people and kind of an adventure too. Numbers? We drove 2300 kilometers and I snapped 2300 images. That’s one image per kilometer. Average for a ten days trip! Food? I ate a lot of Plov (national dish), shashlik, soup, kebab and tons of bread. Very tasty food, but added two kilos on my ribs 🙂
Visiting the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Bhukara, Khiva, and Samarkand allowed me to immerse myself in the rich history and architecture of Uzbekistan. The intricate details of the mosques and palaces were a sight to behold, and a journey through Uzbek architecture is like traveling back in time.
Uzbekistan may be a relatively new destination, but it offers a unique opportunity to experience traditional ways of life. My trip was not just a road trip, but an adventure that allowed me to appreciate the beauty and culture of Central Asia.
