After the Omo Valley south of Ethiopia I went to the northern part of Kenya called Turkana. This area is very close to the Omo Valley and the Omo river which provides lake Turkana with water. In this part are the Turkana tribes living which are similar to the Nyangatom / Dassanach in Ethiopia. They wear almost the same clothes and necklaces.

As with all other pastoralist tribes in Kenya, livestock,  especially goats and cattle, are at the core of Turkana culture. The Turkana people live a nomadic life, always moving from one place to another depending on the availability of pasture and water for their animals. The girls and women of the Turkana tribe wear colorful beaded necklaces.
